When I was a boy
of 16, I traveled to Calgary and Banff Springs with a busload of
teenage guys and gals. I saw many beautiful rivers and thought
"There have to be huge trout in those rivers. When will I
ever get back here to find out?
Twenty six years later after Angler's Lane started, retired
school board administrator Herb Vitale provoked me into hiring him
after he heaped lavish stories on me about catching many wonderful trout in the mountains
of Alberta and British Columbia. But when Herb vowed he would not to
take me to his secret spots, again I wondered, "When
will I ever find out about those beautiful rivers near Calgary?"
Last summer the
break finally came when Herb returned from his annual Western
Canada trip and announced, "The secret on Alberta and BC is
out, so I might as well show you how to do it; besides, you can bring some friends.
It's not too crowded but books are being written about it so it's no
longer a secret." Realizing this was one of those moments
when the good Lord sends the proverbial gifthorse you cannot look in the
mouth, I quickly pounced on the opportunity before Herb came to his senses, "When do we go?"
Herb let me know he had already researched and designed the trip.
After many years of experience by Herb fishing the Canadian
Rockies, we would like to offer you the following special sojourn
with Angler's Lane. Please join us July 26
- August 2, 2008.
One can expect to catch cutthroat, brown, and rainbow trout on this trip
with bull trout being the added bonus. Numbers can be outstanding but
one should not go expecting numbers. See links to articles on
rivers below itinerary. If you want a chance to catch good-size, hard-fighting fish,
enjoy beautiful scenery and develop friendships
with guides and group members, you will have a great time on this trip.
If you like what you see, I hope we can receive your commitment
soon,
as the guides in this area have a short season and need to know
our headcount sooner versus later. Given the preliminary interest
(and years of post-trip stories by Herb), we are confident this
will fill up quickly.
Because of the short season, the guides and lodges are anxious to know our
group size, which we will cap at 8 total. We can discuss the details
with you personally.
