For instance on the Bronze series from TFO, Winston and Orvis we use Orvis Clearwater lines; on the Silver Series combos we use Scientific Angler's Headstart or Rio Mainstream floating lines. On Gold series combos from Winston, TFO, and Orvis we include the Rio Avid line, and on Platinum series combos we include a Rio Trout on lightest weights, Rio Gold on the mid-weights or Rio Bonefish or Tarpon line on the heavier weight combos.
All Rod and Reel Combos from Sage and Scott include your selected rod and reel combo, backing, and a high quality, weight-forward fly line at a tremendous value. While we cannot specify the retail price or manufacturer of this fly line on Sage or Scott combos online, the line quality is commensurate with the rod package price (on par with the non-Sage/Scott combos) and we guarantee its satisfaction to you as a valued customer. Sage Approach Fly Rods
Excellent Line Feel and Control in a Medium-Fast Action Rod
Sage calls its all-new Approach series rods "entry level," though the term just doesn't do them justice. Utilizing a higher modulus graphite than any of Sage's previous entry-level rods, the Approach has a medium-fast action that provides excellent line feel and control. Beginning casters can easily grow with this rod without ever feeling they've outgrown it. And like all Sage rods, the Approach is made on Bainbridge Island, Washington, USA.

Lefty Kreh Finesse Rods offer a more traditional taper--not super fast like most of today's rods. Ideal for meadow streams, limestone creeks, and spring creeks. At short to medium distances, Lefty Kreh Finesse rods cast effortlessy, turning over long leaders easily. The shorter rod lengths are perfect for tight quarters while the longer length rods will keep a backcast well above tall grasses. TFO tailored this series for smooth, accurate and delicate presentations and easy roll-casting. For 2011, Winston's new VSL rods aren't merely a series of lightweight, high line speed graphite rods. They're an incredible design upgrade at an equally incredible price. For the first time, progressive, fast action rods from Winston are available for under $300. VSL stands for "very smooth and light." Utilizing design attributes from Winston's higher end graphite rods, the VSL series provides power and smooth, balanced performance. They feature a beautiful olive gold color with a hint of metallic luster, amber colored wraps and a nickel silver reel seat with wood insert. Handcrafted from start to finish in Montrose, Colorado by the skilled artisans at Scott Fly Rod Company, A4 rods feature many of the technological and process innovations that have been features in top end Scott rods.blanks are designed and rolled with multi-modulus lay ups on compound taper mandrels, and are connected using Scott’s industry leading low mass sleeve ferrule design.
A4 rods are smooth casting high line speed rods with very low physical weights. They recover very quickly and cast super flat, very precise loops, yet load progressively and transmit feel extremely well.
Like all Scott rods, design and craftsmanship are more than just blank design. Components and construction were carefully chosen to deliver top performance with the anglers needs in mind.
New grip shapes were turned from Super grade cork to provide greater feel, TiCh coated reel seats with self aligning slide hoods make rigging easy and protect the hardware from harsh elements, and TiCh stripping guides feature SiC inserts.
