Rivenridge at Piney Forks Fishing Lodge offers brook trout fishing and beautiful scenery second to none!  Enjoy this exclusive water from Angler's Lane.  Known as The Clubhouse in the early 20th century, Rivenridge at Piney Forks, entails 2+ miles of both the North and South fork of the Piney River.
Guests tell us there is not a prettier place around, and the fishing variety matches the beauty.  One moment you can fish the South Fork for brookies 10" to 20" stocked amidst beautiful, hard-fighting native brook trout; you may catch the occasional wild brown trout or escapee rainbow here as well . . . . .

. . . . Later proceed to the pristine North Fork, for abundant, native brook trout where you will almost certainly not see another soul.  Finish the day at the scenic pond in front of the 5-bedroom lodge, within view of both forks, where anglers can pull in sizable rainbow and brown trout up to 6 pounds.  Fly fishing only, catch and release. You can rent the Rivenridge lodge overnight (same arrangement as beach house--you rent the entire house, linens provided, kitchen and grill available). As an option, an Angler's Lane guide can help you learn the water quickly. Day passes are available unguided if lodge not in use. Call 434-385-0200 or contact us at shop for details.

Jackson River
- Enjoy a guided float fishing trip for wild trout on the Jackson River, considered Virginia's premier tailwater trout fishery and the headwaters of the James. We launch from our cabin, Stonesthrow On Jackson and our four other properties. You can also choose to overnight at our Stonesthrow cabin if you wish to wake up right on the river!  Enjoy a trip floating and wading for wild rainbow and brown trout below Lake Moomaw near Hot Springs, Virginia, and the famed Homestead resort.  We also offer day walk-and-wade trips using these same five properties and public spots.  Access can be delicate on this river known for landowner rights issues.  You will encounter terrific scenery and usually outstanding fishing on the Jackson with an Angler's Lane guide.  We have been guiding the Jackson for a decade now. This river still holds many secrets, a few of which we unlock with each additional trip.

Staunton River - We have private access and own several properties along the entire 30-mile stretch of the Staunton River below Leesville Dam. Unlike the James, access is spotty along this river.  Owner Doug Lane grew up in Altavista overlooking the Staunton from his backyard, has been fishing the river since 1969.  He has floated it seriously for over 22 years and learns something new about it with each trip. In addition to our usual goal of smallmouth bass, the Staunton holds a wide variety of other species including largemouth, spotted bass, striped bass, walleye, catfish, long-nosed gar, rock bass, carp and others. It is not uncommon to catch 5 or more different species, and 9 is our record in one day.  One never knows what to expect on the mysterious Staunton.

Highlight for Album: James River James River - Recognized by many as Virginia's best smallmouth bass river, the James River runs through the heart of Lynchburg, our home base. We know the river well and have access to private and public landings. Enjoy this local treasure with us as you tangle with the fish many consider the fiercest fighter pound-for-pound in freshwater! Take advantage of our familiarity with this local treasure.  More pictures & info / Rates  Book a Trip...
Tye River - The Tye has come back nicely since Hurricane Camille ripped through this river in 1969. Browns, rainbows and brooks can be taken on a fly by the studious angler. Located less than a dozen miles from the Piney, we enjoy fishing the Tye and its tributaries to mix up our water choices. To learn this historical tributary of the James, book us for a trip.

Highlight for Album: New River

New River - Considered the 2nd oldest river in the world, the New offers prolific smallmouth bass fishing.  We know a variety of the stretches on this River well and have fished it since the early 1990's.  The New offers muskie and walleye fishing as well as its renowned reputation for smallmouth.
